A world-famous actor who keeps his love life as private as possible but when he speaks about the love of his life, millions have a meltdown.
When we talk about Hollywood stars who have been in long-term relationships, a lot of names pop up. But for some reason, Christian Bale's almost 2-decade-long marriage is never mentioned as often as it should be. That's how secretive the actor has been about his marriage and family life. For almost 2 decades, the method actor has kept his relationship from the prying eyes of the paparazzi. Therefore, when he finally spoke about his love-life, the admiration that his fans had for him, doubled.
The Batman star tied the knot with model and make-up artist Sibi Blažić in 2000 and are going strong ever since. In the ever-shifting world of glitz and glamor, a long-lasting relationship has become quite rare. Therefore, Bale and Blažić walked that extra mile to make sure that their 'forever' means 'forever.'
Interestingly, Bale was dead against the idea of marriage before he met Blažić. So much so, that in an old interview, he had admitted that the concept of marriage was off-putting for him and he never imagined himself walking down the aisle.
“I never planned to marry,” he told, explaining, "Everyone was divorced in my family, so I didn’t have very healthy ideas about marriage. Then I met Sibi and suddenly it seemed [like] a fantastic idea. The couple eloped to Las Vegas to tie the knot.
Not just that, she also changed his mind about starting a family. In 2005, they had their first child, Emmeline. Baby Joseph arrived a decade later, in 2015. “I’ve got incredible pride for my family," he said. "I’ve absolutely fallen into that cliché of a dad who could just happily talk about my daughter endlessly," he told Esquire.
Later, he also called fatherhood “the best thing ever” and admitted, “I don’t want to leave my daughter’s side for one second.” If this doesn't prove that being with the right person can change your perspective in life for good, nothing will.
He is also very emotional when it comes to his relationship with his wife. When Bale won the 2011 Critics’ Choice award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Fighter, he teared up while gushing about his "strong" wife.
"I know that it truly would be impossible to do it without her, and she’s such a good strong woman. I owe everything to her," he said. His next line of thought is what happens to you when love fills your heart with inexplicable joy and contentment. “She’s probably the most strong woman I’ve ever come across in my life,” he gushed while his love stood beside him. “And I — You’re making me all tearful! I’m too much of a softie! I don’t think I am, but then you got me with that!” reports US Weekly.
The Machinist actor is known to portray edgy roles on-screen. He brings forth a madness with his performance that has become his signature style. Blažić has that madness in her too. She is a strong woman in every aspect and she never fails to compliment her husband as well as she could. Bale revealed that she "terrifies" him in a good way. In a way, that keeps them together and compatible in every phase of the relationship.
"My wife was a stunt driver — she was chasing me through the city in Batman," he noted, "She was driving one of the cop cars. She can do 180s and stunts and all that." He went on to say, "She terrifies me. My wife terrifies me." In the best way possible, of course, reports Goalcast.
Not long ago he won another Golden Globe Award for his performance in Vice and again he couldn't help but concur how his wife has always pushed him to be a better artist and a better person. "Thank you to my beautiful wife […] I wouldn’t be working without her." Bale's repeated gesture of gratitude towards his wife is the kind of appreciation a strong woman deserves. Their relationship proves that when two people feel blessed and grateful to have each other there is nothing that could not be achieved - personally and professionally.
He added, “And thank you for our beautiful children, Banana and Burrito. They’ve given me a love and a soul I never thought possible.”
