Chadwick Boseman Said, "You're With Me Every Day" To His Wife Who Stayed With Him During His Cancer Battle

Chadwick Boseman and Taylor Simone started dating in 2015.

It is seldom that you find people, who stick with you through thick and thin. Chadwick Boseman was lucky enough to find a woman, who stood by him even he was going through the excruciating pain of cancer. Though Boseman never really spoke of his cancer battle or his relationship, he appreciated his partner, Taylor Simone for being with him.

Attending NAACP Image Awards in March 2019, Boseman thanked his wife as he accepted the award for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture. "Simone, you're with me every day. I have to acknowledge you right now. Love you," said the actor, according to ET. Simone, who was in the audience mouthed, "I love you" to her love.

Boseman was a private person and so his romance with Simone, a singer who graduated from California State Polytechnic University came to light only after the paparazzi spotted them together at Los Angeles International Airport in 2015. Shortly, the couple began to be seen together more often, hinting they were together. According to Daily Mail, Boseman was diagnosed with cancer just a year into their relationship. However, he never spoke of his cancer publicly.

Simone accompanied the actor when he attended Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2017. They also made appearances on red carpets together. In 2018, people close to Simone spilled secrets of her relationship with the Black Panther star.

Speaking to InTouch Weekly, Simone's grandmother stated that the couple was happy to be with each other. She added that they "respected" each other and shared a beautiful relationship. Simone's sister too came out to say that the couple "embody true love." "His real-life queen is gorgeous, and together they embody true love," commented her sister on a picture of Boseman with his co-star, Lupita Nyong'o.

The couple allegedly got engaged in October, 2019 during a date night in Malibu. Sources close to the star confirmed the news and said, "Chadwick and Simone got engaged. It was a long time coming and everyone is really happy." Meanwhile, the news of their wedding was known only after he passed away at the age of 42.

The Instagram post that announced the tragedy stated, "He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side. ⁣The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time," said the statement. The reference to Simone as his wife revealed that the duo had got married secretly, just months before his death.

The actor's friends too referred to Simone as his wife. "Before sharing my thoughts on the passing of the great Chadwick Boseman, I first offer my condolences to his family who meant so very much to him. To his wife, Simone, especially," wrote Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, according to ET.

The Instagram post about his death further stated, "It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.⁣ Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV." It continued, "A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. ⁣It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.

Boseman's death and the things it revealed about his life are equally shocking. Fans were surprised to hear how a man who underwent so much pain in his own life found the time to encourage and support others battling cancer. Besides, they admired his strength to inspire many during his adverse situations.
