Despite the family not having their beloved husband and father in the house for Christmas, Celine Dion is determined to make her time with her sons count, especially during the holidays.
Celine Dion has long since captured the heart of people around the world with her powerful vocals. But the people who capture her heart are her three sons, and this Christmas, she made sure to spend some sweet quality time with them.
According to People, the 52-year-old singer rang in Christmas Eve by sharing a personal family moment with her three boys, René-Charles, 19, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 10, on Instagram. What made the photograph even more adorable was them twinning in holiday pajamas while posing in front of a large Christmas tree beautifully decorated with lights, a slew of festive red bows, guarded by a stuffed reindeer. "May this holiday season bring all of you the gifts of love, peace, good health, and the promise of brighter days in the New Year ahead! 🎄✨ ❤️" she wrote in the caption, before repeating the same message in French.
Given that the My Heart Will Go On singer prefers to studiously keep her kids away from the spotlight, she does occasionally show the world the tight-knit family that they are. For example, in October, the artist celebrated her twin boys' 10th birthday by posting a throwback photo of the two as toddlers alongside a picture of how they look at present to show their journey. She also mentioned that she isn't the only one who is proud of her boys. Dion added that her late husband, René Angélil, who passed away from throat cancer in 2016 shares the same sentiment.
"Nelson and Eddy, you have been bringing so much joy, love, and laughter into our lives every single day for the past 10 years," Dion captioned the post. "You make me, your big brother and your Dad, who is for sure watching over you, so very proud. Happy birthday my beautiful boys! We love you so very much... - Mom, RC and Dad xx... 🐾," she concluded.
Similarly, earlier in 2020, the singer posted a then-and-now comparison picture with René Charles and praised him for his accomplishments and for being a "true gentleman." "I'm so proud of the way you're conducting yourself in life," she wrote at the time. "I want you to know that your father's guidance continues to support and protect you… as I do. Keep being the best of yourself… strong, passionate, and wise, as you pursue all of your dreams in life – the sky's the limit!"
The Christmas snap was a surprise as the holiday season is not the best time for the family. This year marks the fifth-year anniversary of the death of the singer's late husband on January 14, 2021. Married for 22 years, Celine Dion and René Angélil were every bit in love as they were when they first met. So when he died, it hit the loving wife hard.
"There is not a day that goes by without me thinking about your beautiful smile," she wrote alongside a picture of Angélil smiling with a dozing puppy in his arms. "We miss you, thank you for watching over us my love. I love you," she added, signing off the post, "Céline xx…"
In fact, she's still not ready to date anyone, according to Today in September 2019. "I don't date. I'm not ready to date," she admitted. "I'm very lucky and happy to have so many people in my surrounding to make me — they make me laugh." Well, looks like the spirit of Christmas was kept alive by the love she gives and receives from her sons.
