Brave 4-YO With Cancer Tells His Mom Before He Dies He Will Wait For Her In Heaven: 'Made Of Pure Love'

Nolan Scully was diagnosed with rare soft tissue cancer at just 3 years old.

No parent should witness their baby go through a painful medical scare. While this is incredibly hard on families, sometimes the strength shown by their children passes onto everyone else who knows and loves them. Take 4-year-old Nolan Scully who was diagnosed with rare soft tissue cancer. His mother documented his journey on a Facebook page called Nolan Strong. There, she spoke about how much strength and resilience the brave little boy showed during a difficult time. According to I Heart Intelligence, family friend Frank Bell said, “Every battle he’s had, he just bounced back, unbelievably. You knocked him down, he just came back and ran.”

The sweet boy had dreamed of becoming a police officer and wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father Jonathan, who was a firefighter. As someone who wanted to serve the community, the toddler was even sworn as an honorary police officer and called Sergeant Rollin’ Nolan. While the family tried their best to help the little boy cope, things were starting to get worse.

“We were sat down with his entire team. When his oncologist spoke, I saw the pure pain in her eyes. She had always been honest with us and fought alongside us the whole time. But his updated CT scan showed large tumors that grew compressing his bronchial tubes and heart within four weeks of his open chest surgery. The Metastatic Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma was spreading like wildfire. She explained at this time she didn’t feel his cancer was treatable as it had become resistant to all treatment options we had tried and the plan would be to keep him comfortable as he was deteriorating rapidly,” shared Bell.

It must have been so heartwrenching for the family to grapple with the news and how short the little boy's time had been. Nolan's mother Ruth gathered all her strength to tell the news to her son. But his reaction was surprisingly so pure, innocent, and loving. She told him that he did not have to fight this illness anymore. According to the mom, he responded, "I DONT??!! But I will for you Mommy!! She told him that she can't keep him safe anymore, but "the only way I can keep you safe is in Heaven." To which the sweet-spirited boy said, "Sooooo I’ll just go to Heaven and play until you get there! You’ll come, right?" Ruth replied, "Absolutely!! You can’t get rid of Mommy that easy!!"

A few days later, when Ruth was given permission to take a quick shower, her son was fighting for his life. He was surrounded by a medical team when he slipped into a coma. In his final moments, Ruth said that she "ran and jumped into bed with him and put my hand on the right side of his face. Then a miracle that I will never forget happened. My angel took a breath, opened his eyes, smiled at me and said ‘I Love You Mommy,’ turned his head towards me at 11:54 p.m. Sgt. Rollin Nolan Scully passed away as I was singing ‘You are My Sunshine’ in his ear.” Although his life on this earth was short, friends and loved ones will remember him just like how his mother described him: "he was made of nothing but pure love."
