Blythe Danner's holidays will be a lot happier this year as she revealed that she is in remission after battling oral cancer for the past four years. Bruce Paltrow, her husband, died in 2002 due to the same disease. Danner told PEOPLE, "Everyone is touched by cancer in some way, but it's unusual for a couple to have the same cancer." She is the mother to Gwyneth and Jake Paltrow. Danner is known for her roles in Meet the Parents and Will & Grace. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2018. She said that she "looked up at heaven and said to Bruce, ''Are you lonely up there?'"

"It's a sneaky disease. But I'm fine and dandy now. And I'm lucky to be alive," she said.

In 2018, while she was working in London, she began to feel "very woozy" and began to forget "everything." Recalling the incident, she said, "And then I felt a lump in my neck, right next to where Bruce had found his [in 1999]." She was later diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma, a rare form of oral cancer. She said that she didn't tell her children "for a long time." She didn't want them to worry. "I wanted to forge ahead as a mother, and I didn't want them to worry." When she told them, Gwyneth was "very shocked." "It was scary. And it felt really eerie because it was so similar [to my dad's]."
