Angelina Jolie Is Selling a $2.95 Million Worth Gift From Brad Pitt Amid Divorce Battle

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt separated in 2016. They are still fighting custody battle.

The aftermath of a broken marriage is hard on partners and the children involved. The divorce proceedings often take ugly turns and fingers are pointed at each other. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were once looked up to as an ideal couple in Hollywood. However, a couple of years after their marriage, the two parted ways due to differences. Since then, the duo has been battling their divorce in court.

Recently, it was reported that the actress was selling a very expensive gift Pitt got her during their time together, According to CNN, Pitt gifted his then-wife the one and only painting created by the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill during World War II. After attending the Casablanca Conference in January 1943, Churchill had painted the Tower of the Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakech, Morocco, and gifted it to US President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Years later in 2011, Pitt bought the $2.95 million-worth painting from an antique dealer, M.S. Rau, for Jolie. Though it is not clear why the actress wants to give away her gift, the painting is expected to sell for $3.4 million at an auction.

Meanwhile, Jolie and her ex-husband are clearly struggling to work out their differences. According to PageSix, the couple was not on the same page at least until before December. Though Pitt saw three of his children along with his ex-wife during Christmas Eve, sources say that things between the former couple are "not that simple."

An insider stated, "Every holiday, every birthday, someone always leaks the same thing about Brad and his supposed plans to see the kids, like the pizza party for Shiloh’s birthday this year — and it seems like there’s never any truth to it."

Though it has been about five years since their separation, the couple is still stuck in a custody battle. In 2020, sources claimed they were nearing a conclusion, however, it seems they are still figuring out matters pertaining to their six children.

"It doesn’t look like it’s going to be resolved anytime soon," according to the source. They added that the battle is "pretty tragic for everyone." The insider further stated, "This continues to be a very hard time for the family."

Meanwhile, Jolie has opened about the painful divorce. When asked if she was happy, the actress told  British Vogue Editor-in-Chief, Edward Enninful that she was "not there yet." She also added, "I don’t know."

"The past few years have been pretty hard. I’ve been focusing on healing our family. It’s slowly coming back, like the ice melting and the blood returning to my body. But I’m not there. I’m not there yet. But I hope to be. I’m planning on it," she continued, according to Style Caster

Additionally, she claimed that her age made it possible for her to cope better with the divorce. "I do like being older. I feel much more comfortable in my forties than I did when I was younger," she said. "Maybe because… I don’t know… maybe because my mom didn’t live very long, so there’s something about age that feels like a victory instead of a sadness for me," she added.
