8 YO Slept Next To His Pregnant Mother For Hours Without Realizing She Had Long Been Murdered

The child still determined to wake her up called neighbours for help, it was then that she was found to be dead.

What could be more horrifying for an 8-year-old child than having to realize that his pregnant mother, who he had so lovingly slept next to the whole night, was dead all along? This is what happened with Ashley M. Garcia's son who was told by her boyfriend, Alexis Armando Rojas-Mendez, 23, that his mother was fast asleep and that he must not disturb her, 2ClickHouston reported. The innocent boy slept next to her without realizing the horror of it all. It was only on waking up did he notice that something was wrong.

The brave little boy was still determined to wake his mother up, so he went to get some neighbors to help, but it was too late. Garcia had already passed away hours earlier at their apartment in De Solo Street, Houston. The police were called in, and the young mother, who was seven-week pregnant at the time, was declared dead. Investigators found spattered blood on the apartment's floors and walls. They found Garcia's body to have blunt force trauma to her head and body.

The Houston Police are on the lookout for Garcia's boyfriend, who had clearly fled the scene before he could get caught. People reported that Mendez is now wanted on a charge of murder. The 8-year-old had told the police that he had witnessed Mendez physically assaulting his mother earlier that night. More specifically, he saw Mendez beating Garcia with his steel-toe work boots before leaving their house. The child, however, was not the only witness, a neighbor claimed to have seen Mendez assaulting Garcia at a parking lot that day. The neighbor further described that it seemed like Mendez was trying to force Garcia along with her son into the jeep with him but she refused, so he dragged her back to her apartment where he committed the heinous crime.

While investigating, the police found that Mendez had contacted his sisters for some money, claiming it was for an "out-of-the-town" job, but his sisters refused. They also told the police that he sounded "stressed out" during the call. Garcia's grieving family organized a private funeral for her. Heartbroken, they hope their dear one receives justice soon. "I have so many mixed emotions. I am sad, I am angry, I just want justice for her, that's all I want, I want her to be at peace," said Garcia's sister Yessenia, according to 2ClickHouston.

The news of the incident soon became viral on social media. While people hope justice is served soon enough, they are also praying for Garcia's three children, especially her 8-year-old son, who has seen the worst. Many praised the boy for being incredibly brave in a situation like that. A trait he probably gets from his mother as earlier Yessenia told 2ClickHouston that her sister was a great parent and stated that the three kids were very similar to their beloved mother. "You know, those kids are so much like her, It's crazy," said Yessenia.
