8 Reasons Why Family Is So Important And The Best Thing To Happen To You

Our loved ones often teach us significant lessons in life in different ways.

A family environment should be filled with love, respect, and support. After all, it's the first place where children learn about the world. They look to their family members on how to interact, how to manage emotions, and how to develop skills to carry into adulthood. A loving family provides a sense of belonging and connection. As much as time in solitude is important, humans are social creatures and do need to bond with others. A family can help provide support in times of crisis. Your friends or romantic partner may not be able to be there for you all the time, but family often steps up no matter how tough life can get for you. Here are some reasons why family is the best thing in your life.

1. They aren't afraid to call you out

A lot of times, people may be a little wary to honestly tell you when you've messed up, but that rarely happens with family. Sometimes the criticism may hurt, but they do it so you learn and grow and take accountability for your actions so you can become the best version of yourself.

2. They're your first love

You don't really know what love is until you've seen how family members stick together and support you. Love is kind and love is respectful. Love is selfless and bountiful. Before you venture out into the world, this is the space you learn all about love.

3. They accept you for who you are

When the world turns its back on you, you can depend on family to have your back. When you feel misunderstood by society, a loving family will be there for you and accept you as you are. They only want you to be true to yourself and live your best life. Even if you stray away from whatever is described as "normal", by societal constructs it doesn't matter to loving family members who just want you to celebrate everything that makes you uniquely "you".

4. They will always be by your side

Even if you mess up sometimes, they won't shun you. They'll advise you on how to be better but they're not going anywhere. Even on your darkest days you can depend on family to be by your side no matter what.

5. They give you a sense of belonging

Family can feel like home. They make you feel safe, protected, and secure.  You may be caught up with so many things that life has to offer but you'll always have a longing to come back home to your family no matter where you are.

6. They cheer you on

Not only are they there for you during the bad times, but they're also your biggest fans supporting you on the best of days. Whether you're a singer, a dancer, or an athlete, they always show up and support you. Your happiness brings them great joy as well.

7. They are mentors

They teach you so many things in life. From the basics of how to use a fork and spoon to how to navigate life with heartbreaks and job losses and everything in between. Their nuggets of wisdom are often priceless. They make sure they're just a call away if you ever need advice on anything.

8. They offer an authentic connection

There's no pretense when it comes to family. No one here fakes their love or pretends to be someone they're not. Their love for you is as real as it gets and is often selfless and unconditional. There's nothing purer than having someone genuinely love and support you with no need for anything in return. Everyone deserves that kind of love in their lives!
