Bridger received 90 stitches and is doing well at home said his aunt.
Siblings share a lot of love for each other despite the silly arguments they get into. Even if they don't get along, they often feel the need to protect each other and be there for each other in times of need. One elder brother did just that when he saw his little sister was in trouble. He did not think of himself but stood up and saved his baby sister from getting hurt.
According to CBS, 6-year-old Bridger saved the life of his little sister from a charging dog by standing in front of the animal. The animal attacked the poor child, but nothing stopped him from being there for his sister. He suffered numerous bites on his face and head. All throughout, he protected his sibling and then grabbed her hands and ran away to safety. The story came to light after his aunt, Nikki Walker talked about the incident on social media.
Posting pictures of the loving siblings on Instagram, the woman wrote, "On July 9th, my six-year-old nephew Bridger saved his little sister’s life by standing between her and a charging dog. After getting bit several times on the face and head, he grabbed his sister’s hand and ran with her to keep her safe."
She then went on to say that the young boy was even ready to give up his life for his baby sister. She wrote, "He later said, 'If someone had to die, I thought it should be me.'”
Injured from the attacks by the dogs, the innocent kid had to get 90 stitches to cover the bruises on his face and head. He was then sent back home. "After receiving 90 stitches (give or take) from a skilled plastic surgeon, he’s finally resting at home," wrote the child's aunt.
She concluded the post by writing, "We love our brave boy and want all the other superheroes to know about this latest hero who joined their ranks." The woman tagged stars who played the Avengers including Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Junior, Mark Ruffalo, etc. She even requested people to share the story of her heroic nephew. She said the little boy would feel good if he heard from his superheroes.
"Please, share my nephew’s story so that it gets as much exposure as it can. We know that our little hero would love some words of encouragement from his favorite heroes," wrote the aunt.
The post garnered the attention of numerous people over the internet. They hailed the heroic young boy and his act of bravery. "What a brave boy. You must all be so proud of him. Please introduce them both to a kind, loving, gentle dog so they know that they don’t all behave like that. It would be terrible if they were both left scared," wrote one person.
Others were worried about the boy's injuries. Some asked if the incident had emotionally scarred him in any way.
"Hi, Bridger. I’m a Nurse, so I work with doctors to take care of people in the hospital who are sick or got hurt. I can tell, by the way your nicely healing wound looks, that you had a really good doctor who did a very good job caring for you. My nurse friends and I think you’re awesome for how you helped keep your little sister safe. Many fist bumps from us to you!" wrote one.
Meanwhile, the aunt stated that the boy was doing well. She also responded to many of those enquiring about the dog. "His wounds are looking so much better! He’s in great spirits, and his awesome personality is intact. He can’t smile too widely yet, but he was grinning as I read some of your comments to him. I’d also like to mention here that the dog’s owners are really great people who have been nothing but kind to Bridger and his family." She added that they had no hard feelings against the owners of the dog.
She further thanked the people who encouraged and supported the young boy. "Once again we’re blown away by the amazing comments and messages that Bridger’s receiving," wrote Walker on the post.
Bridger's act was undoubtedly heroic and it clearly depicts the unconditional love he has for his sister.
